Night Guards

When not in your mouth, store the night guard in fresh water. Brush the inside and the outside of the appliance after use. You can use tooth paste or dishwashing liquid. Do not scrub excessively and do not soak in bleach. Over the years, the plastic may yellow a bit, this is normal.

The night guard should only be seated with finger pressure. Do not bite it into place, it could break if not correctly aligned.

There is typically an adjustment period of weeks before sleeping with the night guard feels natural. Please be patient. Following the adjustment period, you'll typically be more comfortable sleeping with the appliance in than with it out.

If any teeth or jaw muscles hurt from the night guard or if the night guard feels too tight, please call our Westford dental office for evaluation and adjustments.

The night guard should be worn as regularly as possible. If it is not used for an extended period of time, it may no longer fit properly.
